BIG SUR COVE: When asked if she was enjoying the view of this Big Sur cove, a lady responded, "I just want to stand here and feel the beauty for hours". Taking in the magnificence of the steep cliffs meeting the beaches and ocean waves along the Big Sur coast is truly fulfilling.
BIG SUR CLIFFS: Most all that have viewed the spectacular Big Sur cliffs believe they are the most beautiful in the world. Rising hundreds of feet above the coves and beaches along the Pacific Ocean these breathtaking cliffs were sculpted, by wind and water, into the magnificent views we enjoy today.
McWAY FALLS: You can sit for hours taking in the beauty of McWay Falls and the rugged Big Sur coastline. In fact that was one of Julia Pfeiffers favorite past tiimes. The water of these falls are one of the few waterfalls in the world that directly fall into the ocean after cascading down some eighty feet to the beach and Pacific Ocean Below.
PELICANS: After a day of diving deep into the ocean for fish, these pelicans are flying into the wind, as they head for home.
HIGHWAY ONE FLOWERS: Along Highway One, between Carmel and Big Sur, there are so many beautiful sites. One of the simplest, yet very beautiful, are these flowers growing wild between the fence line of a ranch and the roadway.
BIG SUR COASTLINE: This photo captures a sunny view of the beautiful coves and ocean along the Big Sur coastline. The Big Sur coast, first observed in the mid 1500's by the ships of Juan Cabrillo, is set between the Santa Lucia Mountains and the
beautiful Pacific Ocean. Big Sur was home, for thousands of years, to the Ohlone, Esselen and Salinan tribes.

DANDELION: The hundreds of seeds of the dandelion are taken by the wind and dispersed to a wide area to grow in disturbed soil. This beautiful dandelion brings back childhood memories of making a wish then sending all of the seeds of the dandelion globe into the sky with one soft puff of air.
CRAB APPLE BLOSSOMS: We know it is Spring when the blossoms bloom. One of the prettiest blossoms are those of the Crab Apple tree as is witnessed in this photo.
MEADOW TREE: As a very rainy Winter transitions into Spring this beautiful "meadow tree" finds itself surrounded by a healthy meadow and a hillside backdrop of lush trees.
THE BEE and the FLOWER: The Peruvian Apple Cactus blossom opens for one night, from dusk to dawn, each year. This bee was in the process of flying into the middle of that beautiful blossom to roll around in the stamens, anthers and pistils to gather the glorious pollen to take back to its hive.
YOSEMITE'S HALF DOME: This magnificent granite dome is one of the most famous rock formations in the world. Half Dome juts up almost 5,000 feet from the Yosemite valley floor.
WILD HORSES: This stallion serves as the protector of his herd. Defending the herd from predators and other stallions. I found this group of wild horses in the northern Nevada Dessert.
